Australia 2009-11

Back at granny's :)

We arrived back at granny's place on a Friday evening. It was so good to be back. As "my home" (the little shed) was occupied by a mother with her 9 year old, Shirley gave us the spare room in the house. Our initial plan was to just stay a few nights and then head on towards Alice Springs and Darwin (up through the middle) but as plans always change, especially with Juuli and me, we stayed...and stayed... and stayed. Shirley asked me to do "house-sitting" while she was away on holidays (in Germany). So, we stayed and worked. We did vine pruning for a while. Every time we decided to leave, we couldn't... "just a little bit longer" we'd say. Three months later we finally left. It was a great time (as per usual in this area). We saw some new things, too. My friend, Tony, took Juuli and me to Yorke Peninsula for one weekend, we had several tries for whale watching around Victor Harbor (unfortunately without any luck), did some hiking in the Onkaparinga gorge and Kaitpo Forest and just had a really nice time with our friends, old and new.

Wir sind an einem Freitag abend bei Granny angekommen. Es war soo schön, wieder hier zu sein. Da „mein zu Hause“ (der kleine Schuppen) allerdings von einer niederländischen Mutter und ihrem 9-jährigen Sohn besetzt war, hat Shirley uns ein Zimmer im Haus gegeben. Unser Plan war ursprünglich nur ein paar Nächte zu bleiben und dann Richtung Alice Springs und Darwin zu starten. Aber da sich Pläne ja immer ändern (vor allem bei Juuli und mir), sind wir geblieben ... und geblieben... und geblieben. Shirley hat mir dann vorgeschlagen ich solle doch auf ihr Haus aufpassen, wenn sie im Urlaub (in Deutschland) ist. Haben wir dann auch gemacht und währenddessen gearbeitet. Unser Job war Weinreben zu stutzen. Jedesmal, wenn wir dann ausgemacht hatten aufzubrechen, konnten wir uns nicht losreißen. „nur ein bisschen noch“ haben wir immer gesagt. Drei Monate später hieß es dann schließlich auf Wiedersehen zu sagen. Es war eine tolle Zeit (wie immer in dieser Region). Wir haben ein paar (für mich) neue Orte gesehen. Tony hat Juuli und mich über ein Wochenende zur Yorke Peninsula genommen, wir sind diverse Male nach Victor Harbor gefahren, um nach Walen zu schauen (leider immer ohne Erfolg), haben Wanderungen durch die Onkaparinga Schlucht und den Kaitpo Wald gemacht und einfach sehr viel Zeit mit unseren (neuen und alten) Freunden hier verbracht.

The next morning we went to another beach.
Am nächsten Morgen gings zum Sonnenaufgang zu nem anderen Strand.

One of the weekends, Juuli and me went to Myponga to look at the dam and the beach.
An einem Wochenende sind Juuli und ich nach Myponga gefahren und haben uns den Damm und den Strand angeschaut:

In Mclaren Vale there was a pruning competition which was quite funny to watch and awesome for me as I met old friends from the picking season.
In Mclaren Vale fand auch eine Pruning Competition statt, was sehr lustig war anzuschauen und toll für mich war, weil ich viele Freunde von der Picking Season wieder getroffen habe.
