Sunday at Mount Buller

On Sunday Tim and Chris had the idea of going to see Mount Buller and to see some of the areas affected by the bush fires back in Feburary this year and back in 2006/2007.

We went from Wandin up through Yea, to Mansfield. We then went on a detour to Chris' old cherry farm in Tolmie up at 950m above sea level. After a short tour we went on and up (1805m) to Mt. Buller.

Tine outside the gnome tree house on the way toward Mt. Buller peak. (Unfortunatly we didn't see any gnomes)

We drove up to their house in Mt. Buller village, had a coffee then drove up until we were about 100m shy of the peak. It wasn't untill we reached the ridge that we realised how cold it was. It was 0 degrees but the wind chill made it feel even colder.

It was a beautiful day and we had a beautiful 360 degree view of the surrounding environment.

On the way back we took a slightly more easterly highway south through Alexandra toward the Maroonda Resevoir and in to Healesville. The tree you can see in one of the photo's was burnt by the fires yet can regenerate even after having all its branches and leaves burnt off. What you can see is the new growth 6 months after the fires in which there was so much loss.

It was a 480km round trip and we got home around 8pm.

We are currently looking for a car to buy, but can't quite agree on what to get.
